COPIED FROM SF FORUM : POST BY BRUCE ON TRANSLATION -

Quickly, here are the steps to create the translation files:

1. Run tools/makepot.py on all of the .krb files that will be used by the system. This scans the krb files and creates a diagnosis.pot and question.pot file. Move both of these to the translation/0.1/po directory (0.1 is the naimath release number).

2. Go into the translation/0.1/po directory and run:

$ msginit -i diagnosis.pot

Answer the question. This will create a .po file for your locale (for me, en_US.po).

$ mv en_US.po en_US/diagnosis.po

do the same for the question.pot file:

$ msginit -i question.pot

$ mv en_US.po en_US/question.po

3. Edit the en_US/diagnosis.po and en_US/question.po files. Change the 'msgstr' settings (see en_US examples). Be sure to also do an 'hg add' on these, if this hasn't already been done.

4. Run msgfmt to convert the .po file into a .mo file:

$ msgfmt -o ../en_US/LC_MESSAGES/diagnosis.mo diagnosis.po

$ msgfmt -o ../en_US/LC_MESSAGES/question.mo question.po

Add the .mo files to hg, if they have not been added yet.
